Dance and Drama Tutor
Rob received his professional training with Bull Alley Theatre Training Company in their four year course in Performing Arts, graduating with an A.T.C.L from Trinity Guildhall, London.
Rob has been working as a professional actor now for over 10 years, he has performed in an array of plays and musical theatre productions highlights of which include playing ‘Aiden’ in the world premiere of the one man show ‘69 Shades Of Gay’ , ‘Wicked Witch’ in the Wizard Of Oz at the Helix and the character ‘Buffy’ ( the Dame of the annual Cheerios Panto at the Tivoli Theatre) where he is about to embark on his seventh year. During the Christmas season Rob appears regularly on some of Ireland’s top TV & Radio shows as Buffy. In 2016 the Irish Times said Rob was ‘queen of the panto dames’.
Rob also works extensively around Ireland as a theatre director/choreographer and makes several appearances throughout the year as master of
ceremonies for many events.
Rob is the creative director and writer of the on board children’s entertainment during the summer season each year on Irish Ferries ‘Oscar Wilde’. Rob is director of ‘Spotlight Theatre Group’ in Dublin a performing arts and musical theatre group for young people. Rob has directed several plays, variety shows, pantomimes and musical theatre shows throughout the country and some of his variety show productions have won overall best show awards in highly acclaimed competitions. In 2018 he won ‘Best School
Director’ at the All Ireland Dance Awards.
He recently directed, produced and wrote ‘Jack & The Beanstalk’ for the civic theatre in Tallaght which received rave reviews and sold out over forty performances. He has already began working on their 2019 panto ‘Snow White’. He also directs their annual summer season musical theatre course and is lucky to be named as one of the theatres associate artists.
Rob founded Dramatic Action in 2007 and never dreamed it would grow so big and become such a wonderful family. He is so excited for the future plans for the school and it really is his pride and joy.
Sarah studied dance at Sallynoggin college of further education. She later went on to complete a diploma in musical theatre performance from the London college of music while attending westside stage school.
During this time she was invited to attend a weeks training on scholarship at the North London dance studio. She also studied singing through the ABRSM under the guidance of Karen Mcdonald.
She has perfomred in theatres such as the Gaiety,the Olympia, the Helix and the Cork Opera House. She performed in the Irish premiere of "Whiskey in the Jar".
In 2013 she completed a successful season as lead vocalist in "Wilde Nights" on the Oscar wilde with the Irish ferries.
She was delighted to be a part of the cast of "The Promise " the musical which premiered in September 2013 in the Helix. Sarah was a part of Palmerstown house hotels christmas caberet where she performed as a singer/dancer.
In 2015 Sarah performed as leading vocalist for one of the worlds most prestigous cruiselines on the "Seabourne Quest" , completing a world cruise visiting over 20 countries .
Her film credits include featured dancer in "Mrs Browns Boys D'Movie.
Since 2005 Sarah has been teaching performing arts extensively across Dublin . She has also choreographed many pantomimes and musicals for various schools and socities.
She is vocal coach and assistant choreographer for Spotlight theatre group who just recently won the All Ireland variety showdown in October 2018.
Alexandra has been dancing from a very young age she trained under Rob Murphy firstly in St Mary’s Youth Club and later with Dramatic Action Stage School in total nine years. She began her professional dance training with Inchicore College where she obtained advance qualifications in ISTD modern theatre dance examinations, intermediate qualifications in RAD Ballet, along with these she also obtained a diploma in dance instruction (DDI).
Alexandra recently completed her full time dance training with Morea Performing Arts College in the UK under the guidance of Kate Morea one of the creators of ISTD.
Alexandra’s training also includes Jazz, lyrical, Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre, Urban & African.
Whilst training in the UK she was also lucky enough to take regular workshops with leading West End performers. She has been working extensively as a dance teacher and choreographer since returning to Dublin two years ago. Alex is also delighted to run her own technical dance class for dramatic action students on Saturday afternoons.
Vocal and Drama Tutor
Elaine trained with Bull Alley Theatre Training Company from 2002 – 2006 graduating with an ATCL from Trinity Guildhall, London.
Credits include playing ‘Mother Courage’ in Mother Courage at Smock Alley, ‘Bride’ in Blood Wedding at The Project Arts Theatre, various parts in Hamlet at Tallaght Theatre, ‘Jane’ in I Have Five Daughters at The Project Arts Theatre.
Elaine has also starred in ‘West Side Story’, ‘Chess’, ‘City Of Angels’ at the Draiocht Theatre and the Dublin premiere of ‘Ragtime The Musical’ at The O Reilly Theatre.
Elaine works extensively across Dublin as a singer, drama teacher and vocal coach working in theatre / stage schools as well as Primary and Secondary School . Elaine is delighted to be a part of the team at Dramatic Action and she also runs private singing classes for students looking for extra tuition which is another avenue she adores.
Dance and Drama Tutor
Yasmina graduated from the College of Dance in 2009, under the supervision of Joanna Banks after completing a two year full time course and acquired a National Diploma in Dance and Musical Theatre. She has also graduated from Maynooth University with an honours bachelor degree in Business and Management.
Yasmina found her love of performing arts at the age of three training in London at the McAlpine School of Dance studying RAD (Ballet) and ISTD (Jazz and Tap) syllabus. She also became an associate of the prestigious English National Ballet in their youth dance program and gained the opportunity to dance in the Royal Albert Hall.
After re-locating to Ireland, Yasmina took up commercial dance with Dance Fusion and privately began acquiring her teacher’s diploma studying Russian Ballet for NATD. In 2007, she began her training with the College of Dance, Monkstown.
Yasmina has worked extensively with children aged 3+ in all areas of the performing arts for the last 10 years in stage schools, primary + secondary schools, creches and musical societies.
Yasmina is delighted to be in her 10th year with Dramatic Action Stage School and is consistently amazed by the continuous dedication and talent within the school.
Our Teaching Assistants
At Dramatic Action we are delighted to have some of our past / current students who are over the age of 18 years act also as teaching assistants. There is always a teaching assistant present to ensure our qualified teachers always have the help they need to carry out a fun and engaging class. We are over the moon when students take on the performing arts full time as a carrer choice mainly because they attended Dramatic Action as a child.
Ellen Aherne is 18 years old and started in Dramatic Action, Finglas when she was 14. Before that she was in ballet with Kim Lyons, which she started when she was 4. She has always had a strong passion for all styles of dance as well as singing and drama. When she started in Dramatic Action her love for all aspects of musical theatre began to grow further. She has played leading roles in singing and comedy in the Dramatic Action shows the past 4 years. She also went to the All Ireland Variety Showdown with Spotlight Theatre Group where they won best overall show as well as winning many other awards for all aspects of the production and performance. She has played various leading roles, for example Zazu in ‘Pride the Musical,’ Rizzo in ‘Grease!’ and recently Sarah in ‘Our House - The Madness Musical.’ She studied Dance in Inchicore College last year where she developed her ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap technique and performance. This year she is with Bull Alley Theatre Training Company (Liberties College) and is loving how much variety is in the course. Once she finishes studying, she wants to become a working performer and teacher as she loves performing and working with everyone in Dramatic Action.
Kyra is 18 years old and has been in Dramatic Action for 5 years now and is a student in our Palmerstown school. Kyra is a teaching assistant in all 4 of our Dramatic Action Schools and is also a teaching assistant in Spotlight Theatre group in Inchicore.
Kyra’s love for theatre and performance started when she was very young following in the footsteps of her Grandad who was in Vegas show bands back in the 70s. She has been involved in the industry since she was 4 years old and participated in many types of dance such as Latin and Ballroom along with being in stage schools throughout her life.
Kyra has been involved in the Civic Theatre summer camp for six years playing roles such as Rizzo in ‘Grease’, Sharpay in ‘High School Musical’ and Ms.Honey in ‘Revolting Kidz The Musical’ based on Matilda. In October 2018, Kyra went to Trabolgan with Spotlight Theatre group and took part in ‘The All Ireland Variety Showdown’ where they won ‘Best Overall Show’ along with many awards for production and show content. Kyra is also involved in her school musical group playing roles such as Jasmine in ‘Aladdin’ and Pinky Tuscadero in ‘Happy Days’. Kyra was also a part of the Causeway Productions Panto for a number of years. She is currently a 6th year student and is planning on continuing and furthering her career in the theatre industry hoping to both perform and teach as she has a great love for both.
